No Room – One Room – Many Rooms

Well, here we are, about to celebrate another Christmas!  I have such fond memories of Christmases past.  My parents were not believers.  I became a Christian a few months before the Christmas of my senior year in high school.  Rather timidly I asked my dad if he minded if I read the Christmas story from the Bible before we opened our gifts.  I think totally stunned, he said sure!  That began a tradition to this day in my household.  These are my thoughts this Christmas season. … [Read more...]

Tozer on Leadership – A 366 Day Devotional

October 9, 2013 (Download this FOM Communique as a PDF) We are leaders! We are not man-made – we are God-made! Oh, we may have been born with some natural leadership abilities, but we are what we are by the grace of God, and thus we should lead, not like leaders of the world lead, but lead as we are led by the Spirit of God. God’s leaders are not haughty; they do not use “flattering” words; they do not run greedily after great gain; their ambitions are God’s ambitions. Following is a brief … [Read more...]

The Disciplines of Life

September 7, 2013 Greetings to my fellow brother servants in Christ: Several years ago an evangelist friend called from the Detroit area to see if he could come over to Grand Rapids, have lunch, and pray specifically for me regarding my ministry. Rudy had been a good friend over the years but I never felt that we had been that close. I agreed to meet him at a favorite restaurant where we had sweet fellowship, and yes, before he left, he prayed for me, and oh, how he prayed. I was in tears. And I … [Read more...]

The Class Room of Life Is A Learning Lab For Leading!

“…for I have learned in whatsoever state I am, to be content.”  Philippians 4:11 “It is good for me that I have been afflicted, that I may learn Your statutes.”  Psalm 119:71 “Show me Your ways, O Lord, teach me Your paths….teach me, for You are the God of my salvation; on You I wait all the day.”  Psalm 25:4-5 I am writing to leaders.  I don’t know about you but I never sought or chose to be a leader.  It was not on my “bucket list” of things to do as a child, as a youth, or even when I … [Read more...]

Muslims and Bible translations

Dear Partners in Ministry: A recent article from the February, 2011, issue of Christianity Today was recently brought to my attention regarding "The Son and the Crescent," concerning Muslims and Bible translations. I thought that it may also be of interest to you. May the Lord richly bless your ministry as we approach the Memorial Day weekend. Our new website hopefully will soon be up and running and I will let you know when it is. Also, in the near future you will be receiving information … [Read more...]

MAY 6, 2011

Dear Gentlemen: If you have not heard, two sister agencies recently suffered damage due to tornadoes going through their areas. Baptist World Missionary Outreach Ministries (BWMOM), Chattanooga, TN, President Jack Reiss, is a FOM member, and they suffered considerable building damage with several trees falling down. They were without power for quite some time. Though not a FOM member, Beacon World Missions, Trenton, GA, President Peter Mucher, lost their entire facility as well as the home of … [Read more...]

When the Brook Dries Up

April 18, 2011 When the brook dries up, just pray, "Lord, fill my cup!" Are there times in ministry when you just feel dried up, just like the brook at Cherith?  Times when you are mentally drained, spiritually disoriented, physically exhausted and literally limp through the activities of the day with animated form, retiring at night with no worthwhile purpose for tomorrow?  If only the answer was, "Take two aspirin, get a little rest and tomorrow will be fine!"  I once heard someone say … [Read more...]
