Purpose

The purpose of the Fellowship of Missions is to provide collaborative interaction among member mission agencies, for mutual accountability, personal and ministry development and encouragement.

  • Accountability involves qualifying for membership in a forum of like-minded mission agencies, reaffirming our shared convictions and reporting on ministry outreach.
  • Ministry development seeks continuous improvement in personal and corporate effectiveness, spiritual vitality, and resources for remaining current on theological and methodological issues.
  • Encouragement is found in fellowship among like-minded mission leaders, challenging preaching and teaching, and the sharing of resource information at an annual forum and other venues.

Leadership

Steve and Judy

President — Steve Fulks was born December 24, 1952 into the home of Rev. & Mrs. Harlan Fulks.  In August of 1964, realizing his personal need of a Savior, he asked his father to show him how his sins could be forgiven and how he could become a child of God.

In September 1970 Steve was enrolled at Tennessee Temple College in Chattanooga, TN.  There he followed the course of study for a major in history with a minor in Bible.  It was also at Temple that the Lord led Steve to meet his future wife, Judy Taylor.  They both graduated on May 27, 1974 and were united in marriage the following day.

The Lord has permitted the Fulks to minister in many different areas and in various ways.  Upon graduation they moved to Alexandria, VA where they both taught at Calvary Christian School; Judy in the elementary division and Steve in the high school.  Steve also served as administrator of the school for two years.  From that assignment, they moved to the Cincinnati, OH area where they served in a ministry to youth and music.  He was ordained to Gospel Ministry on November 9, 1978. Later, the Lord took the Fulks to Iowa where Steve assumed the pastorate of Clio Baptist Church.

In July of 1985 the Fulks were commissioned by Tri-County Baptist Church of West Chester, Ohio and appointed by Baptist Mid-Missions as missionaries to the country of Peru where they ministered through 1997.  They served in church planting, seminary instruction, and as well, had the opportunity to develop a radio ministry. In 1992 the Fulks, with the Lord’s help, began the production of the well-known program “Unshackled!” in Spanish and continued that ministry through June of 2004 producing over 600 programs.

In March of 1997 Steve was invited by the General Council of Baptist Mid-Missions to assume the position of Administrator for Church Relations & Mission Advancement (now known as Church Relations & Enlistment).  He served in that position until January 2017 when he assumed the position of Administrator for Operations which included oversight of the Global Ministry Center Staff and Campus, as well as the IT Department. Steve retired from the Baptist Mid-Missions Administration on July 31, 2022 and assumed the position of President of Fellowship of Missions on September 13, 2022.

Beliefs

  1. The plenary, verbal, Divine inspiration of the Scriptures, consisting only of the 39 Old Testament and 27 New Testament books, in the original language, their consequent inerrancy and infallibility, and, as the Word of God, the supreme and final authority in faith and life;
  2. The triune God: Father, Son and Holy Spirit, the Sovereign Creator, Sustainer and Ruler of the universe;
  3. The essential, absolute eternal Deity; and the real and proper, but sinless, humanity of our lord Jesus Christ;
  4. His birth of the Virgin Mary;
  5. His substitutionary, expiatory death;
  6. His resurrection from among the dead in the same body in which He was crucified, and the bodily return of this same Jesus to the earth in power and great glory to judge the earth and establish His millennial Kingdom;
  7. That the “blessed hope” of the Christian is the personal, premillennial, pretribulational, and imminent coming of our lord and Savior Jesus Christ to gather the Church “which is His body” unto Him;
  8. That the Holy Spirit enters, seals and baptizes one the moment he is born into the family of God through faith in Jesus Christ, and that He endues, guides, teaches, sanctifies, and empowers the believer;
  9. Salvation, the effect of regeneration by the Spirit and the Word, not by works but by grace through faith in the shed blood of Christ;
  10. The abiding presence and ministry of the Holy Spirit in each regenerate life;
  11. The everlasting bliss of the saved in heaven, and the everlasting suffering of the lost in the lake of fire;
  12. The real spiritual unity in Christ of all who are redeemed by His precious blood;
  13. The necessity of maintaining, according to the Word of God, the purity of the Church in doctrine and life;
  14. The obligation of obedience in the command of Christ to evangelize the world and to establish local churches.
